QFZP, audit, mainland-permit and substance values are sourced where the zone authority or FTA publishes them, and inferred from published zone characteristics otherwise. How we determine these values.

08Strengths & limitations
Strengths
  • ['Lowest published entry price of any UAE media-positioned zone: Business Club license AED 4
  • 999/yr with zero visas
  • renewing at the same price (official site
  • Jul 2026)'
  • 'Transparent published pricing with renewals cheaper than Year 1 (Visionary 12
  • 999 then 8
  • 999; Innovator 22
  • 999 then 14
  • 999)'
  • 'Fully digital setup and renewals - online application
  • payment and member portal; no physical presence required'
  • "Broad scope for a 'media' zone: 1
  • 500+ activities
  • up to 10 activities and 10 shareholders per license; freelancer permits available"
  • 'Co-working bundled in every package; scalable packages up to 10 shareholder visas']
Caveats
  • Banking friction: Ajman-issued licenses face extra scrutiny from several Dubai banks; traditional account opening can take 2-8 weeks (Wio/ruya are faster fallbacks)
  • Not a VAT designated zone (only Ajman Free Zone holds that status), so no designated-zone treatment for goods
  • No media-industry cachet or established creative ecosystem - tenant base is budget startups and freelancers, not broadcasters or publishers

Not ideal for: Businesses needing a prestigious Dubai/Abu Dhabi address, more than 10 visas, warehouse/industrial facilities, designated-zone VAT treatment for goods, or smooth onboarding with major traditional banks.

09Tax considerations
Questions to raise with your tax advisor
  1. Does your planned revenue qualify under the QFZP qualifying-income rules?

QFZP 0% only applies to qualifying income. Mainland trading or revenue from non-free-zone clients is generally non-qualifying and taxed at 9%.

  2. Will you need audited accounts even if this zone doesn't require them?

FTA corporate-tax filing typically expects audited accounts for revenue above AED 50M, and banks often request them at much lower thresholds.

  3. How much of your revenue will come from mainland UAE customers, and how does that affect QFZP and 5% VAT obligations?

Mainland revenue beyond ad-hoc levels can disqualify QFZP and triggers full 9% corporate tax plus standard VAT on supplies.

  4. Do any of your customers, suppliers, or shareholders meet the FTA's related-party definition?

Related-party transactions need transfer-pricing documentation and may push otherwise-qualifying income into the 9% bracket.

These prompts are due-diligence questions, not tax advice. Confirm every answer with a UAE-licensed tax advisor before incorporating.
